i watched Eight Below at sicc yesterday. it is so darn awesome! not to be missed! get hold of the dvd or something! its one of the greatest movies on earth! The Most Amazing Story Of Survival, Friendship, And Adventure Ever Told. Brutal cold forces two Antarctic explorers to leave their team of sled dogs behind as they fend for their survival.
The fierce Antarctic winter is just setting in when an intrepid team of explorers and scientists on a research mission-survival guide Jerry Shepard, his best friend and cartographer Cooper and the rugged geologist Davis--just narrowly escape a fatal accident, thanks to their steadfast team of eight skilled sled dogs. Forced to evacuate, the men must leave the beloved dogs behind in the frozen wilds--with a promise they will return. But when the storm of the century approaches, cutting off all means of travel, the dogs are stranded. the guy in there is hot. not taking into consideration his lifestyle, i would say he is the kind that i want to marry. not the actor la the character. but thats not the main attraction. the dogs are. they are so adorable, witty and cute. the dogs were kind of on a path leaading only to death coz they were chained up tightly without access to shelter and food. and its so heartening to see how they fight on to survive and how inseperable they are. 2 died. and i cried like buckets after buckets. because u saw how much the dogs actually love each other. and you got a chance to see the tactics they used to catch birds and obtain other food. my fav dog in there is Maya, the leader of the pack. when u see the look in Maya's eyes as she wait for Jerry to return...i dun see how anyone with feelings can actually not shed a tear! its a really really great show! the scenery is marvelous and the dogs are ultra cute! esp when they crawl! the images are still stuck in my mind. and well i totally love it! i think im gonna watch it again! *beams*
